It ain’t necessarily so…

The song from George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess goes like this:

It ain’t necessarily so,

It ain’t necessarily so,

The things that you’re liable to find in the Bible

They ain’t necessarily so…


But in this case, the song might go “the things that you’re liable to watch about the Bible, they ain’t necessarily so.  It seems that National Geographic’s expose on the hitherto undiscovered Gospel of Judas (Judas was actually a good guy!  Jesus wanted Judas to hand him over so he could accomplish his mission!) was a little bit premature.  It’s another reminder that you should always take things which are said by “biblical scholars” with a grain of salt.  Somebody’s agenda or bottom line may very well be in play.
